| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of the People's Republic of Mozambique occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a rising sun, crossed rifle and hoe, and an open book above stylised ocean waves. The shield is flanked by a sugarcane stalk to the left and a maize plant to the right, with a cogwheel at the base and a five-pointed star at the apex. A circular legend reading REPUBLICA POPULAR DE MOCAMBIQUE runs along the upper periphery, while a scroll at the base of the arms repeats REPUBLICA POPULAR DE MOCAMBIQUE.
