| Obverse description | Central field features an interlaced geometric rosette or quatrefoil design composed of overlapping circular arcs forming pointed lobes, a characteristic decorative motif of Moroccan Alaouite coinage. Within the central lozenge formed by the interlace, Arabic script in two lines reads the mint name followed by the Hijri date 1340, indicating striking at the Paris Mint. Small ornamental devices punctuate the interlace at the cardinal and intercardinal points along the inner border. |
