Obverse description Unadorned bust of King Johann of Saxony facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and naturalistic portraiture. The truncation is plain, with the mint mark 'E' (Dresden) positioned at the bottom of the field beneath the bust. The circular legend reads 'IOHANN V.G.G.KOENIG VON SACHSEN' and is separated from the effigy by a continuous inner ring of beads. The overall style reflects the academic realism characteristic of mid-19th-century German medallic engraving.

Reverse description Crowned imperial eagle displayed with wings spread, rendered in the standard type adopted for the German Empire's gold coinage of 1871. The denomination '10 M.' appears in the lower field between two six-pointed stars, and the date is incorporated at the end of the circular legend. The legend 'DEUTSCHES REICH' arcs across the upper portion of the reverse, enclosed within a beaded border.
