Reverse description A finely rendered Meissen porcelain coffee pot in the Baroque style dominates the central field, presented in profile with an elegant curved spout and scrolled handle. Above the pot, at the upper edge, appears the crossed swords mark of the Meissen manufactory in stylized form. The birth and death years 1682 and 1719 flank the Meissen mark at the top, while the honoree's name JOHANN FRIEDRICH BÖTTGER arcs around the periphery, with asterisks serving as decorative separators. The composition commemorates the inventor of European hard-paste porcelain on the 250th anniversary of his death.
