Obverse description The Maltese coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield charged with the George Cross and a representation of the traditional Maltese design, supported on either side by two seahorses rendered in high relief. Above the shield rests a mural crown, while a scroll bearing the national motto appears below the supporters. The country name MALTA is inscribed in large letters along the lower periphery in Latin script.
