Comments

The Turkish central bank's own printing works in Ankara took over domestic banknote production in 1955, and this note falls squarely within that self-sufficient period. P#180 circulated across a stretch of years during which Turkey experienced significant inflationary pressure — the lira had already lost substantial ground against hard currencies through the late 1950s and 1960s, a trend that would eventually push denominations far higher by the following decade.

The nine-year emission window is wide enough that signature varieties account for most of the meaningful collecting distinctions within this type.
