Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King George I facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a short beard, occupying the central field. The circular Greek legend ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ runs along the periphery, separated from the toothed border by a raised rim. Below the truncation, the engraver's signature BARRE appears, flanked by the initial E, with the date 1877 in the exergue.
