Banka e Shtetit Shqiptar — the Albanian State Bank — replaced the Banka Kombëtare e Shqipërisë in 1945 as the communist-led government consolidated financial control following the war. This 10 Lekë note belongs to the first series issued under that new institution, a direct instrument of the Hoxha regime's early economic reorganization.

The 1947 series was short-lived. A currency reform in 1965 redenominated the lek at 10:1, rendering all pre-reform notes obsolete almost overnight.
