Moldova's National Bank launched a wildlife commemorative series in the early 2000s targeting the domestic collector market, with the wood marten selected as a native forest species under pressure from habitat loss. KM#22 saw a very limited mintage — consistent with the series as a whole — making secondary market examples genuinely difficult to source.
