Fantasy notes occupy an awkward corner of the hobby — neither forgeries nor toys, but deliberate collectibles issued outside any monetary authority. The BFR series by Dani Crișan positions itself squarely in that tradition, producing Romanian-themed pieces aimed at the collector and novelty market rather than any pretense of legal tender status.
Petrolul refers to the Ploiești-based football club, one of the oldest in Romanian football, founded in 1924 — making 2024 its centenary year. That anniversary is almost certainly the hook for this particular release.
