| Obverse description | Central field depicts a coloured scene evoking the literary world of Mihail Sadoveanu: a silhouetted male figure wearing a hat stands beside a small dog, with a mushroom to their right, all rendered against a textured silver forest background. To the left of the central grouping appears a large coloured blue flower, and to the right a vivid red poppy in full bloom, both applied in colour. The Romanian coat of arms is struck in relief below the upper legend.
