Humor Monastery, founded in 1530 under Petru Rareș in southern Bucovina, is among the painted monasteries inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993 — a designation that prompted Romania's ongoing commemorative series celebrating these exterior fresco traditions. The National Bank began issuing coins in this cultural series well before 2011, and Humor was a natural inclusion given its unusually well-preserved exterior murals, including the famous depiction of the Siege of Constantinople.
KM#295 is a proof-only issue with a strictly limited mintage, typical of the NBR's collector-focused silver program rather than any circulating monetary function.
