| Reverse description | The reverse features an ornate interlaced knotwork border occupying the lower half of the field, rendered in the style of medieval Romanian manuscript illumination. In the upper central field, a stylized Orthodox cross is depicted with the Christogram abbreviations IC XC (Jesus Christ) flanking the top arms and NI KA (conquers) beneath the lower arms, faithfully reproducing decorative elements from Coresi's 1561 Gospel. To the left of the cross, the date 1561 and the name CORESI appear in two lines. A circular legend in Gothic-style lettering along the upper rim commemorates the 450th anniversary of the printing of the Gospel in the Romanian language. |
