Obverse description The obverse features a composite architectural design depicting the distinctive tall, shingled steeple and timber body of the Church of the Holy Archangels in Rogoz prominently centered in the field, flanked by the silhouettes of two additional wooden church towers rendered in contrasting relief. The Romanian national coat of arms — the eagle displayed bearing a shield — appears in the upper left quadrant. The denomination '10' is inscribed to the lower left and 'LEI' to the lower right, with the legend 'ROMANIA' running vertically along the right side of the field and the date '2013' positioned at the lower right.

Reverse description The reverse presents a relief reproduction of a medieval fresco from the interior of the Church of the Holy Archangels in Rogoz, depicting three nimbed archangels rendered in a flat, iconic Byzantine style characteristic of 17th-century Romanian ecclesiastical art. The central archangel is haloed and faces the viewer frontally, flanked by two attendant figures with large feathered wings, all set before a decorative horizontal border containing liturgical vessels. The lower field is divided into two legend areas: to the left, the inscription 'monumente de arta medievala crestina' in a script typeface, and to the right, the church dedication 'BISERICA SFINTII ARHANGHELI' above the location 'ROGOZ' and the founding date '1663' in larger roman lettering.

Additional information

The wooden church at Rogoz, built in 1663 in Maramureș county, is one of the eight Romanian wooden churches of Maramureș inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999. The Banca Națională a României has issued a long-running series of silver commemoratives honoring these structures, of which this is one installment. Mintages in this series are typically low — collector-targeted from the outset, with negligible circulation exposure.
