Fantasy or "artistă" notes occupy a grey zone in Romanian collecting — not official issues, not counterfeits, but limited-edition art objects that borrow the visual grammar of circulating currency without any intent to deceive. This example was designed by Dani Crisan in 2024, part of a small wave of Romanian fantasy notes that emerged alongside renewed collector interest in the pre-EU leu series.
Paper composition rather than polymer places it closer to the older Romanian printing tradition than to current NBR production.
