Obverse description The 1992 Romanian coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a golden eagle displayed and bearing a quartered shield on its breast. The shield is divided into five sections representing the historic provinces: Wallachia (golden eagle), Moldavia (aurochs head), Oltenia and Banat (lion passant with a Roman bridge), Dobrogea (two dolphins addorsed), and Transylvania (black eagle with seven towers, a crescent, and a sun). The date appears flanked to either side at the base of the arms, accompanied by the mint master's initials.
