Georgia's 2018 independence commemorative marks the centenary of the Democratic Republic of Georgia, proclaimed on May 26, 1918 — a state that survived barely three years before Soviet annexation in 1921. That brief republic is a charged subject in Georgian national memory, and the centenary prompted an unusually active commemorative program from the National Bank.
