Malawi's wildlife series issues of the early 2000s were produced primarily for the collector and souvenir market, with limited genuine domestic circulation. The nyala — an antelope native to the dense thickets of southern Africa — has a restricted range that just reaches into Malawi's southern lowlands near the Shire River valley.
