| Obverse description | The obverse displays the full coat of arms of the Republic of Malawi in high relief at the centre of the field, featuring a lion and a leopard as supporters flanking a quartered shield surmounted by a rising sun crest, with the motto ribbon inscribed UNITY AND FREEDOM at the base. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF MALAWI arcs along the upper periphery in bold raised Latin lettering, while the denomination 10 KWACHA appears along the lower rim.
