Malawi's wildlife coin program of the late 2000s and early 2010s produced a sprawling series of large-format silver-plated issues aimed squarely at the collector market, with virtually no domestic circulation intended. The Bald Eagle is native to North America, not southern Africa — its appearance on a Malawian coin is purely commercial, tapping demand from American collectors who would never otherwise buy a Malawian issue.
