Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Mehmed V, rendered in the traditional Ottoman style with characteristic loops and sweeping horizontal strokes. The tughra is flanked by the word 'Reshad' (رشاد) to the upper right. The entire central device is enclosed within an ornate foliate border composed of interlocking crescent-shaped lobes adorned with five-pointed stars, with additional stars and floral rosettes filling the interstices. The outer rim bears a fine dentilated border.
