Danmarks Nationalbank's first 10 krónur note for the Faroe Islands — issued under the bank's Faroese authority rather than its domestic Danish mandate — served a currency zone that had been formally separated from the Danish krone in 1940, when British occupation of the islands following the German invasion of Denmark made independent monetary management a practical necessity. That wartime administrative quirk became permanent, and this note is a direct product of it.

The series ran for over two decades without redesign, which is longer than most comparable Scandinavian denominations of the period. Heavy circulation wear is typical; surviving high-grade examples are genuinely uncommon.
