Additional information

Iceland's central bank was established only in 1961, making this series among the earliest coinage issued under Seðlabanki Íslands rather than the older Landsbanki system. The long production run from 1967 through 1980 reflects Iceland's notoriously volatile inflation cycle of the 1970s — by the end of that decade, annual inflation had breached 40%, and the 10 króna denomination was rapidly losing practical utility, presaging the 1981 redenomination that replaced 100 old krónur with 1 new króna.
