Nordafar A/S was a Danish trading company operating in Greenland during the period when the island was transitioning from colonial status to an integrated part of the Danish realm — a change formalized in 1953. Company scrip of this kind was a practical necessity in remote Greenlandic settlements where conventional Danish currency was scarce and company stores dominated daily commerce. These notes functioned as internal trade tokens rather than legal tender, redeemable only within Nordafar's own trading network.

The series circulated across a narrow geographic and economic corridor, which means surviving examples typically show hard use.
