| Reverse description | Central recessed circular field containing a depiction of the Little Mermaid sculpture, shown reclining on a rock and gazing upward, based on Edvard Eriksen's iconic bronze statue and adapted for the coin by engraver Lisbeth Valgreen. The mermaid's fish tail extends to the lower right within the composition. The upper circumferential legend reads 'H. C. ANDERSEN 1805-2005', commemorating the bicentenary of the birth of the celebrated Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The denomination '10 KRONER' is inscribed along the lower border in raised Latin capitals. |
