Comments

Gerhard Heilmann designed this series in the 1880s — the print runs listed here date to 1885 and 1886 — but the notes remained in active service well into the German occupation of Denmark. The sheer volume of signature combinations across series L through V reflects how aggressively the Nationalbank cycled through cashier pairings during the war years, likely a procedural response to staff instability under occupation conditions.

Series T through V, all dated 1943, account for the majority of known signature variants. That concentration is worth noting for variety collectors.
