Obverse description Yellow-brown intaglio print on a guilloche underprint. At left, a portrait vignette of Christian Michelsen, Norwegian shipping magnate and first Prime Minister of independent Norway (1905–1907), key figure in the dissolution of the Norwegian-Swedish union. Below the portrait, the crowned national coat of arms appears at lower right, charged with a lion rampant bearing the axe of Saint Olaf (King Olaf II), symbolising the sovereign's descent from the Rex Perpetuus Norvegiae. Six seagulls in flight above waves run along the lower border, with the year of issue at upper right.
