Obverse description Central field displays an ornate interlaced script cypher 'LL' surmounted by a princely crown, all rendered in elegant calligraphic style. The legend 'HESSEN DARMST' arcs across the upper portion of the coin within a beaded border. The monogram occupies the majority of the flan, with the intertwined letters forming a decorative device characteristic of German baroque coinage of the mid-eighteenth century.

The numeral 'X' appears prominently at the top, flanked by decorative floral ornaments. The entire legend is arranged in horizontal lines across the flan, referencing the Conventions-Fuss monetary standard adopted in 1753. Mint master initials 'G·C·F' and die-cutter initials 'P·B' appear in the lower exergual area.
