| Obverse description | The obverse displays the elaborate quartered coat of arms of Bishop August von Limburg-Stirum, Prince-Bishop of Speyer, surmounted by a bishop's mitre and flanked by decorative baroque scrollwork. The shield incorporates the heraldic devices of both the See of Speyer and the Limburg-Stirum family arms. A continuous Latin legend encircles the field, identifying the issuer and his episcopal and imperial titles, with a secondary motto SUAVITER ET FORTITER SED IUSTE appearing in the lower portion of the legend. |
