| Obverse description | Draped bust of Margrave Charles Frederick of Baden facing right, depicted with curled and flowing hair dressed in the style of the period. The effigy shows fine engraving detail in the clothing and facial features. The encircling Latin legend reads CAROLUS FRID:D.G.M.BAD & H., with a mint letter below the bust. The portrait is executed in a restrained Baroque style typical of German princely coinage of the late eighteenth century. |
