The Chuvash Republic series belongs to Russia's long-running "Regions of the Russian Federation" program, which the Central Bank launched in 2005 to issue circulating commemoratives across the country's 85 federal subjects. Most pieces in the program saw mintages in the low millions and entered general circulation without ceremony, making high-grade survivors a matter of luck rather than collector intervention.
