Additional information

This series covers the opening years of Nikolai I's reign, which began under extraordinary duress: the Decembrist Uprising of December 1825 struck within weeks of his accession, and the new tsar's immediate response — five hangings and over a hundred exiles to Siberia — set the political tone for the next three decades. The silver content of these small denominations was a deliberate policy holdover from Aleksandr I's monetary reforms, maintaining public confidence in coinage during a period of acute political instability.

The Saint Petersburg mint carried the bulk of production. Warsaw branch issues from this span command a meaningful premium.
