| Additional information |
Issued as part of Ukraine's ongoing "We Are Strong. We Are United." commemorative series, which the National Bank of Ukraine launched during the full-scale Russian invasion to document and honor each of the country's oblasts as acts of institutional continuity under wartime conditions. Zaporizhzhia Oblast holds particular weight in that framing — Russian forces have occupied significant portions of the oblast since 2022, including the city of Energodar and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Europe's largest.
Striking a coin for a partially occupied territory is a deliberate sovereign assertion.
