Obverse description Central field features the Ukrainian state coat of arms — the trident on a shield — flanked by two nimbed angels rendered in a Byzantine-influenced style, each facing inward with wings displayed and robes rendered in fine relief. A ribbon banner inscribed УКРАЇНА arches above the shield. The denomination 10 ГРИВЕНЬ appears in large numerals and lettering in the lower central field, with the date 1999 below. Silver fineness and troy weight indicators Ag 925 and 31.1 are inscribed in the lower left and right fields respectively.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a Nativity scene executed in a stylised Byzantine-iconographic tradition against a deeply mirrored proof field. At centre, the Virgin Mary is shown full-length with a nimbus, arms outstretched, with the haloed Christ Child seated before her on a sheaf of wheat held aloft by a kneeling angel at the bottom. Flanking figures representing the Magi or shepherds kneel in adoration on either side, with an ox and an ass visible in the background stable. Rays of divine light radiate from a star at the top of the composition, and decorative folk-art snowflake motifs are scattered throughout the dark field, uniting Christian and Ukrainian folk iconographic traditions.
