A body of text in smaller Fraktur details the resolution of the municipal committee dated 18 April 1920 authorizing the Notgeld issue with a validity period to 31 December 1920. Walding is a small commune in Upper Austria, and this 10 Heller notgeld was one of thousands of locally issued emergency pieces that flooded Austria between 1919 and 1922 when the postwar coinage shortage made small change functionally impossible to obtain. The municipality commissioned Jos. Waltl in Linz — a competent regional printer — and the design credit to Hosner is unusual enough to be worth noting; most rural communes of this scale didn't bother with a named designer at all.
The JPR1132a designation places it within Jaksch's Austrian notgeld corpus. The "a" variant suffix typically indicates a specific color or paper state within the Walding series.
