| Obverse description | Green and brown letterpress note with a guilloche-patterned background. The denomination '10 Heller' appears in Gothic blackletter script at the top, flanked by the numeral '10' in each upper corner, with additional corner numerals at the base. At centre, a large circular vignette rendered in brown ink presents a portrait of a bearded male figure in a naturalistic style, surrounded by foliage. The redemption text is set in two columns to either side of the vignette, with two manuscript signatures below, attributed to the Bürgermeister and Vizebürgermeister respectively. |

Waidendorf is a small village in Lower Austria, and this note is a product of the acute coin shortage that gripped Austria during the First World War. Municipal authorities across the country — including parishes too small to appear on most maps — were authorized to issue their own emergency Kleingeld, filling the gap left by hoarded and melted coinage. The printer, C. Dueiser of Amstetten, handled a number of these local Notgeld commissions from surrounding communities in the region.
The hyper-local nature of these emissions means surviving documentation is thin. Waidendorf itself had no banking infrastructure of its own.
