Sankt Laurenz is a small parish commune in Upper Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities it resorted to issuing Notgeld in the immediate postwar years when small-denomination coinage had effectively vanished from circulation. The 1920 dating places this squarely in the second wave of Austrian municipal emergency money, after the initial wartime issues and before the hyperinflationary collapse made small-value notes irrelevant.
Johann Mayringer's signature as Bürgermeister is the primary authentication. No printer attribution has been firmly established for this commune's issues.
