Reverse description Plain cream paper with a double-rule outer border enclosing all text in Gothic and Roman typefaces. The heading 'Gutschein' appears in large Gothic display lettering at the top, followed by the issuer line and place-date. Two signature lines are arranged in parallel columns for the Finanzreferent and the Bürgermeister, each preceded by a printed title in Gothic script. A three-line legal disclaimer in small Roman type at the foot references the State Finance Office decree of 18 August 1920 (Zl. 74642) withdrawing the note's Notgeld status, with the printer's imprint centred at the very bottom.

One of thousands of Austrian Notgeld issues produced in the immediate postwar years, this Heller note from Mürzzuschlag was printed locally by the town's own press — a common solution when the central government in Vienna could not supply small-denomination currency fast enough to meet everyday transactional needs. The chronic coin shortage that followed the dissolution of the Habsburg monetary system left market towns across Styria scrambling to fill the gap themselves.

Mürzzuschlag's Notgeld was redeemable only within the issuing municipality, which limited its practical life considerably. Most of these small issues were withdrawn and destroyed once national coinage stabilized in 1922 under the new Austrian Republic's monetary reforms.
