Klein-Pöchlarn is a small market town on the south bank of the Danube in Lower Austria, directly across the river from Pöchlarn. This note is a Notgeld issue — local emergency scrip printed to address the chronic small-change shortage that plagued Austrian communities in the years following the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system. Municipal authorities across Austria filled the gap themselves, producing millions of small-denomination notes that ranged from the artistically ambitious to the utterly plain.
The print date of 30 April 1945 in the reference data almost certainly reflects a catalog or documentation date rather than the actual production date, given the issue year of 1920.
