| Obverse description | Light buff paper with a dense typographic underprint incorporating repeated text and ornamental scroll motifs in pale ink. The issuer name 'Gemeinde Helpfau-Uttendorf' is set in Gothic blackletter type at the top, above the central denomination inscription 'Zehn Heller' in large bold blackletter script. A redemption notice in German states validity until 31 October 1920, followed by three facsimile signatures of municipal officials arranged in a row at the lower portion of the note. |

Helpfau-Uttendorf is a small rural commune in Upper Austria, and this 10 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld emergency coinage shortage that swept Austrian municipalities from 1914 onward. Metal was requisitioned for the war effort, small coins vanished from daily commerce, and thousands of local authorities — including ones as obscure as this — were left to print their own fractional scrip. Josef Stampfl & Comp., operating under the Höglinger imprint in nearby Braunau am Inn, handled the physical production.
Three municipal signatories authenticated the issue: the Bürgermeister and both Vizebürgermeisters.
