Comments

Andorf is a market town in Upper Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities, it issued Notgeld during the severe coin shortage that followed Austria's defeat in the First World War. The Heller denominations were the most acutely missed in daily commerce — small transactions had become nearly impossible by 1919–1920 — which is why so many communes printed their own stopgap issues rather than wait for a central solution that was slow in coming.

Johann Voitleitner's signature identifies him as the authorizing municipal official. Small-run local issues like this were typically printed by regional job printers and signed by hand or with a facsimile stamp.
