One of hundreds of Austrian Notgeld issues from 1920, this Laimbach 10 Heller note belongs to the emergency municipal currency wave that swept Lower Austria after the collapse of the Habsburg economy left small communities without adequate coinage for daily transactions. Laimbach — a modest market town in the Melk district — contracted Siedler of nearby Pöggstall for local printing, a practical arrangement typical of the region's smaller communes.
Three signatories authenticated the issue, including two members of the Blauensteiner family, suggesting the town's administrative circle was small and closely held.
