Trial strikes produced by the Slovak Mint at Kremnica for internal approval and technical testing rarely enter public hands. This copper piece was part of the evaluation process for the circulating halier series maintained after Slovakia's 1993 independence — a coinage program that would ultimately prove short-lived, as the entire halier denomination was withdrawn from circulation in 2003, just a year after this piece was struck.
