Reverse description A high-relief bust of Maurits van Oranje-Nassau (1567–1625), Prince of Orange and Stadtholder of the Dutch Republic, is depicted facing slightly left, rendered with fine detail showing his ruffled collar and armour. Overlapping his bust in the lower-left field are two gilt inlaid representations of a gold ducat of 1598: the obverse showing a standing armoured knight with the date 1598, and the reverse displaying a tablet inscription within an ornamental border. The legend '1567-1625' arcs along the upper left, while 'MAURITS VAN ORANJE-NASSAU' is inscribed vertically along the right field. The engraver's initials appear in the lower left of the field.
