Reverse description A large, finely detailed bust of Jean II le Bon (John II, King of France) in right profile dominates the upper field, depicted with long flowing hair and a beard, wearing a simple robe and holding a sword in his right hand. Superimposed over the lower left portion of his figure are two gold-plated renditions of the historic Franc d'or a cheval coin, showing both obverse and reverse of the medieval gold coin with characteristic Gothic detail. The legend 1319-1364 curves along the upper left periphery, and JEAN II LE BON appears along the upper right. The engraver's monogram and the Utrecht Mint privy mark are visible in the lower field.
