Joh. Enschedé en Zonen printed this note in Haarlem at a moment when the Netherlands Antilles had only recently acquired its own central bank — the Bank van de Nederlandse Antillen was established in 1962, making P#2 among the earliest issues under the new institution. The six-island federation was still navigating its status as an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and having a distinct issuing authority, separate from the old Curação Bank, carried real political weight in that arrangement.
Enschedé's long relationship with Dutch colonial and associated territories made them the natural choice, though their involvement here continued well into subsequent series.
