| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in purple and green, with a large oval intaglio portrait of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands at right, wearing a tiara and pearl necklace. To the left, a green vignette of a Victoria crowned pigeon perched amid tropical foliage serves as the principal pictorial element, with a guilloché underprint in the centre. The legend NEDERLANDS NIEUW-GUINEA and TIEN GULDEN appears at the top, with the legal tender clause WETTIG BETAALMIDDEL 8 DECEMBER 1954 running along the lower margin, and the numeral 10 repeated at both upper-right and lower-right corners. |
