Obverse description The upper central vignette shows a seated boy (Mercury figure) holding a caduceus, flanked by a dog with a key and a basket; to the left a vignette of a steamship with a rowboat, and to the right a train crossing a bridge. Denominational numerals "10" appear in oval cartouches at the left and right margins, with rosette guilloche underprint panels framing the central text block. The note was engraved and printed by Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. of Philadelphia and New York.
