| Obverse description | Central field features the ornate wicker gondola of Jacques Charles's hydrogen balloon, as flown on December 1, 1783, rendered in fine relief with intricate detail including rigging lines and decorative basketwork. Radiating lines above the gondola suggest ascent and aeronautical achievement. The denomination '10' appears prominently in large numerals below the central motif, with 'FRANCS' inscribed beneath and the date '1983' at the base. The circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE' runs along the left and right rim respectively in incuse lettering. The overall design is executed in a bold, graphic style characteristic of engraver Daniel Ponce. |
