Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair. The portrait, modelled by engraver Pierre Turin, occupies the central field with naturalistic sculptural quality. A beaded inner border frames the design. The legend RAINIER III PRINCE DE MONACO arcs around the upper periphery, while the engraver's signature P. TURIN and the date 1950 appear in the lower field beneath the portrait.

Reverse description The crowned arms of Monaco occupy the central field, depicting the dynastic shield bearing the Grimaldi coat of arms of fusils in lozengy argent and gules, surmounted by a princely crown rendered in fine detail. The denomination 10 FRS flanks the shield to the left and right respectively. The motto DEO JUVANTE arcs along the lower periphery within a beaded border. The word ESSAI appears in small lettering within the field, identifying this piece as a trial strike.
